Finally, hours of torture and work and I am finally finished with her!!!! *cheers* This is my very first full clay statue of this size. She is almost a foot tall. I named her Melliame, don’t ask why, I think it sounds pretty.

She was originally inspired from a set of wings I had made a few months back. They are in my scraps, along with some shots of Melliame, pre-dress. I wanted a person for those wings. Well unfortunately after only a few hours of being actually on her, they broke. It was too much weight for the whole statue and the wings were ruined, and it tore her in half. I almost threw the whole thing away…I was really upset about it. But I decided to salvage her, it took several hours, but I managed to make her look normal again and just as a remembrance kind of thing, I put a rainbow blend trim to her skirt. Now I decided I wanted her dress to be shiny. So I tape up the spots I wanted not shiny and spray her with spray varnish, about 4 coats. Well something went wrong there because the spray varnish left her dress constantly sticky, and made on of her sleeves fall off (I repaired it of course you can still see the repair in the top left pic). It also caused her train to crack in several places. I was really upset again and then didn’t touch her for another month. Then I decided to pick her up again and try to fix it. No amount of Acetone, or Mineral Spirits did any help, I couldn’t even sand the thing off. I went down to my mom’s craft room to see if she had anything special I could take it off with. Instead I saw a paint on varnish, I figured, What the hell, after all it can’t hurt! And I painted on another 3 coats of varnish. It did the trick, she was no longer sticky. I ordered her some hair (Tibetan Lambs Wool by the way) and then put her hair together. I have no feeling in my fingertips from the layers of super glue on them, but her hair was in, and I of course added a bit of lace to make it look pretty.

I have to thank [link] no I will never be a good as she is, but I did follow several of her tutorials and orders the hair from her, so thank you. Also thank you to for talking me out of throwing her away every time.

My favorite thing about her is actually her train and hair. I thought that the train looked really ugly at first with all those cracks in it. But then I showed it to My friend Mandy and she asked me “How did you get those cool cracks in the skirt, they look awesome!?” That’s when I realized, yea they do look awesome. And I love her hair cuz it’s the first time I have ever done real hair and look how cool it came out!!

I absolutely hate her face…I can’t stand it. Her eyebrows look weird, her eyes are funky, and her lips look strange. And after too much handling her skin became shiny and spotted…so I hate her face. I am kinda sad about her ears. If you look at her in process pic in my scraps she has these beautiful elf ears, and I worked hard on them, only to have them covered up by her hair…*sniff*

All in all I am pretty proud of how she came out…except her face!

Material used: Sculpey & Sculpey III clay for her head, body, hands and dress. Tibetan Lambs Wool for her hair. Lace and a wooden bead for her hair décor. Acrylic Paint for her eyes and eyebrows.
Time: 60+ hours. That’s not including the 10+ hours it took to make the wings, and then salvage the piece when the wings broke. So for technical reasons its like 71 hours.
